Guide to renting and letting - new agreements

Tuesday, February 11, 2003

The sample tenancy agreements in The Which? Guide to Renting and Letting, published March 2002, have now been updated and put online.

The agreements have been revised to take into account the Office of Fair Trading's guidance on terms in tenancy agreements. They can be found on Which? Online at https://shop.which.net/shop/books/mlpcont.html

Paul Butt, co-author of the Which? Guide to Renting and Letting, said:

"The law of landlord and tenant can be a minefield for the unwary at the best of times and the situation is changing all the time. Since the publication of the book in March, things have moved on."

New agreements available online:

  • Sample agreement for letting a whole house on a shorthold tenancy.
  • Sample agreement for letting a whole house on an ordinary assured tenancy with a ground 1/2/3/4 notice.
  • Sample agreement for letting part of a house, not on an assured or shorthold tenancy.
  • Sample guarantee agreement for residential tenancies.

The Which? Guide to Renting and Letting can be ordered on Freephone 0800 252100 (£11.99, p&p free) or at www.which.net or bought from bookshops.
