 Green building products on show

Wednesday, February 11, 2004

Green building products are sought after more frequently than not these days, but many people don’t know where to find them, use them or how to specify them in new homes.

A ‘Homes for Good’ fair is being held this Friday and Saturday and it’s being launched by Kevin McCloud, the presenter of Channel 4's ‘Grand Designs’ programme.

The event will include everything from timber-framed buildings to recycled textiles, green roofs to natural swimming pools, chemical-free paints to wind turbines.

The demand for low impact and natural building materials and decorating products is slowly increasing as homeowners, developers and architects are becoming aware of the health and environmental issues associated with much of today’s building provisions.

However, how many of us know where to source these products? Which are the best products for the job in hand and how do you use them correctly?

This two-day Fair, aimed at both professionals and the general public, will aim to give an insight into the range of alternative materials and products now on the market.

The fair will be held at the Somerset College of Arts and Technology which is soon to embark on its own multi-building sustainable construction resource centre on the campus consisting of lecture theatre, offices, seminar rooms and exhibition and gallery space.

Details:
Friday 13 and Saturday 14 February 2004 10am-4pm
Conference and Enterprise Centre, Somerset College of Arts and Technology campus, Taunton, Somerset.
