Developer chosen for Bolton town centre plan

Friday, February 20, 2004

Wilson Bowden announced yesterday that it had been selected to carry out a £100 million regeneration scheme in the centre of Bolton.

The regeneration project will transform the Central Street and Bark Street areas of the town and will be developed by Wilson Bowden Developments Limited and Wilson Bowden City Homes.

The proposal is based around a new central square and includes 250,000 sq ft of retail and leisure facilities, 150 homes and a new 800 space multi-storey car park, together with the extensive refurbishment of Victoria Hall, providing first class concert facilities for the town.

It is anticipated that the development will be opened by 2008.

Wilson Bowden Developments has been appointed by Bolton Council and the Bolton Methodist Mission, who considered a number of proposals during the selection process.

Ian Robertson, Chief Executive of Wilson Bowden plc, said: “We are delighted to have been given the go ahead to develop this scheme and look forward to working with Bolton Council and Bolton Methodist Mission to deliver the transformation of their town centre.”
