Bristol is to get its own Ideal Home-style property show this spring. The West Country Property Exhibition will be the first-ever event of its type in the region and is set to open its doors to public and trade visitors on May 7-8.
Staged at Bristol’s L Shed, the show will feature 40 stands from every area of the property market – from builders, estate agents, mortgage brokers, to buy-to-let specialists, self-build companies, overseas property sellers, removal firms, surveyors, solicitors and various other related fields.
Show Director, Richard Van De Velde, said: "The South West has never really had a property show of its own, people from the area have had to go to London for this sort of event. Now they will have one on their doorstep. We will have representation from every part of the housing market, so if you have a question about property, someone will have the answer at the event."
"If you are looking to buy a home or sell a property, build your own house, extend the attic or move into buy-to-let, to name but a few, the answers will be at the L Shed in May."
The event, which is being supported by GWR Radio, will attract an estimated 10,000 visitors from all over the region - Bristol, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall – and is going to be marketed in local media in the run-up to May 7.
Visitors from elsewhere in the UK are also expected, given the South West’s popularity among the retired and relocating businesses. During 2004 this growing attractiveness was reflected in steeply rising prices across the region, with house values rising 14.9% and the price of an average semi-detached property hitting £180,963.
"The South West is one of the UK’s property hotspots and we are expecting a significant number of visitors to come to the show from other areas. There will be opportunities to buy off-plan at the show and this will be a real incentive for them to visit," added Mr. Van De Velde.
