Formerly known as The Devon and Cornwall Small Landlords’ Association, the South West Landlords’ Association is shortly holding it’s next Landlords’ Expo.
The last Landlords’ Expo run by the association was held in Bristol back in April and was a huge success. Next week’s Landlords’ Expo will be held at Plymouth on September 27th and, held in conjunction with Plymouth City Council's housing service, promises to be just as successful.
It will be held in the Guildhall from 12pm until 7pm and the event is free.
Plymouth City has a growing student population particularly since the growth of the Peninsula Medical School. From 1 September 2005 Peninsula Medical School will be accepting applications from international students, so new landlords will appreciate the Expo opportunity.
The Landlords’ Expo will have over 30 commercial stands and experts will present seminars covering legal responsibilities and topics including:
- Buying to let
- Software for landlords
- Tackling anti social behaviour
- Licensing of multiple occupation premises
- Making tenancies work
- Possession and enforcement
Chair of South West Landlords’ Association Trevor Anderson said: "We appreciate how busy landlords and letting agents are so this is an ideal opportunity for them to come along with their questions and get the latest information from professional advisors in one visit. It will also be useful for anyone thinking of becoming a landlord to understand legal duties and the support available to them."
Plymouth City Council's cabinet member for housing, Councillor Mark King, said: "This is a win-win event. Landlords get sound and free advice on good practice and we work together to raise the standard of rented accommodation in Plymouth."
