 The UK’s ‘bullet-proof’ streets

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

The UK’s ‘golden postcodes’ are proving to be immune to house price drops…

While much of the market is currently experiencing a slowdown, certain properties are proving to be as popular as ever; their owners will never have to compromise on price and they will always preserve a competitive edge when it comes to selling.

The County Homesearch Company has identified six of the top ‘golden postcodes’ illustrating factors such as location, proximity to commuter links and stunning views, which can make them immune from any downturn in the market.

Six of the UK’s top golden postcodes:

Castle Street, Bakewell DE45

An idyllic setting with beautiful Georgian townhouses intrinsic to this street’s charm and exclusiveness

 Ann Street, Edinburgh, EH4 1PJ

One of Edinburgh’s most famous and attractive streets lined with graceful Georgian townhouses

Beeston Fields Drive, Nottingham, NG9 3DB

A range of beautiful, exclusive homes combined with quick and easy access into the city

Lexden Terrace, Tenby, Pembrokeshire, SA70 7BJ

An excellent setting with glorious views towards Caldey Island and the Devon coast ensures this street’s continued popularity

St Georges Hill Estate, Weybridge, KT13 0NL

A non-gated, private road in Weybridge in the catchment area for some of the town’s top schools

Rotherfield Road, Henley-on-Thames, RG9 1NR

The best of both worlds – the feel of living in the country combined with easy access to the picturesque town

Jonathan Haward, Managing Director of The County Homesearch Company, says: “Streets that can offer something extra, such as houses with distinguishing features or an excellent location will always have people wanting to live there, making them largely resilient to any dips in the market.

"Being located in a picturesque village, being close to reputable schools or near local amenities are all factors that influence buyers. If a street can meet all of these criteria then the properties which line it are likely to remain highly sought after”.
